Traditional Caribbean Food – Rondon

Traditional Caribbean Food - Rondon

Rondon is traditionally from Bluefields. It is made with fresh shrimp, fish, yucca, coconut and plantine.
There are different variations of the soup/stew that involve turtle meat, pork, and red meat. It can also be cooked with hot peppers, sweet pepper and banana.
Don’t let the look of this bowl fool you, it tastes delicious!
Our Miskito (Miskitu) guide made it for us when we spent the day with him and his family in Awas. I’m not sure which is the correct spelling as in some books I’ve read it’s spelled Miskito but on the big poster in the Pearl Lagoon, it said Miskitu.
