Well, this year has been a challenging one! It started off really great, from living in Vietnam for a month, exploring Cambodia, Laos, Malaysian Vacation with my parents and having a great first few weeks in Nepal with Jacqui and Brenden.. then it took a turn around April 25th when the Nepal earthquake hit. We were so lucky to have an amazing family who took care of us. Then upon returning home my dad fell ill… We’ve lived a rollercoaster of emotions through his time in the hospital. But, he is still with us which is all that matters!
I wanted to say thank you to some important people who helped me make it through 2015.
Mom, you amazing and strong. Thank you for helping Miles and I get home from Nepal and to safety. Not to mention booking us a badass hotel room in China! We’ve been through a lot this year and I couldn’t have made it through all of this without you. You’re also the best nurse I’ve ever seen! Thank you for taking the best care of dad and fighting for him.
Dad, thank you for never giving up. You’re a fighter that’s for sure.. or maybe you’re just super stubborn! The doctors may not have put the odds in your favour but we knew you’d come out of this. I know we have a long road ahead, but you’ve made it this far and you’ll only get stronger from here.
Nat and Stace, I’m glad I’ve had you two to lean on and talk to about dad. It’s been rough what we’ve gone though but I’m thankful it has brought us closer as a family and as siblings.
Miles, I can’t even explain how thankful I am to have you in my life. You have been my rock. You kept me safe all throughout Asia. Taking care of me when I had Dengue, making sure I didn’t get hit by cars.. and keeping me comforted during the earthquake. You’ve been there for me every night and every moment I’ve needed you these past few months. I know it couldn’t have been easy for you dealing with this rollercoaster either. Not only have you been there for me but also my mom and I don’t have words for how much that means to me. You’re an incredible person and I love you with all my heart. Thank you for being strong for me and keeping me together.
I’m ready for 2016 to begin and for it to be a great year. 2015 sure had it’s highs and lows but I came out of it alive and with my family in tact so it couldn’t have been that bad! I am going into 2016 stronger and full of positivity.
So, 2016, bring it on.
