CBAC – December 8, 2016

Kristi spent all morning cleaning up and getting things ready to have family and close friends over for an early Christmas dinner. I got my hair cut. I’m exhausted.

Time to crack a beer and pop a cork.  Or unscrew the screw top.  I get to drink a Red Racer Winter Ale.  I typically don’t like winter ales and find them too sweet but I haven’t tried this one.

My first sip and there is no sweetness… just hops.  As I take a couple more sips I’m starting to pick up a little bit of vanilla and chocolate but the hops is still overpowering it.  Kristi said it tastes like a Christmas tree.

I’m just not feeling this.  It doesn’t taste like other winter ales that I’ve had in the past but I’m still gonna give it a thumbs down.

Meanwhile Kristi opened a Peller Estates Cabernet Merlot.  Peller Estates is one of the largest wineries in BC. This cab merlot is the same wine that we have as our house wine at my bar.  It’s very average tasting.  Easy to drink and not much complexity on the pallet.

So today was a big miss on our drink front but tomorrow is another day.

Current Tallys

Today’s pug photo is also features Lola the great dane.  She came and stayed with us for a couple weeks back in September and started her stay hating Marvin.  Next thing I know, they’re chasing each other around the house and playing.
