After a successful night of decorating the Christmas Tree with Kristi’s parents, I’m excited to open another beer. But before I get to that, I just need to do a little bit of bragging about the Surrey Dodgeball League. Last week I said we estimated that we raised $6000 for the Surrey Christmas Bureau. That number was incorrect. We actually raised $8500! Unfortunately I missed out on the shopping spree where we spend all the money on toys and gifts but it looked like a blast!
Tonight’s beer is “Southern Cross” Kiwi Kettle sour from Red Racer. It sounds delightful. At 6.0% alcohol, this is the night cap I’m looking for.
On first sip it’s more sour than I anticipated. But then it has a sweet kiwi finish. This is good but I can already feel the heartburn. This has a tropical feel like I should be drinking it on a beach somewhere warm.
Kristi has a Merlot Cabernet from Prospect Winery in the Okanagan. For those of you who don’t live in BC, the Okanagan is our desert about 400km away from Vancouver. It offers great grape growing climates for Cab Franc, Cab Sauv, Merlot, Syrah and other medium to full bodied reds.
SHE LIKES IT! It feels like she hasn’t enjoyed anything. Maybe it’s all the booze she drank in advance to this but a victory is a victory and I’ll take it.
Today’s pug picture is Marvin trying to get Kristi to play with him. He’s just so happy all the time.
